At a glance
Neither the MFA's per-country visa checker (geoconsul.gov.ge) nor the e-Visa portal lists Kosovo as a citizenship, and Kosovo is not on the visa-free list (Ordinance No. 255). Contact a Georgian embassy or consulate before you book; requirements may depend on which passport you hold.
If you hold a valid visa or residence permit of one of the countries on Georgia's list (Resolution No. 256: e.g. the USA, the UK, Canada, an EU/Schengen state, Japan, Australia, the GCC states), you can enter without a Georgian visa for 90 days in any 180-day period; it must be valid on the day you cross the border. This rule applies to foreigners generally; whether it covers this passport is not confirmed.
Passport and arrival
Visa-free travellers: the passport must be valid on the day you enter and for your whole stay, so it does not expire while you are in Georgia (MFA FAQ). e-Visa applicants: the passport must remain valid at least 3 months beyond the visa's validity, must have been issued within the last 10 years, and must be undamaged with no unofficial notes; the e-Visa FAQ also asks for at least 2 blank pages, which the MFA FAQ says is not needed for e-Visa applications.
Since 1 January 2026 (Law of Georgia 'On Tourism'), every tourist entering Georgia must show a valid health and accident insurance policy, on paper or electronic, in Georgian or English. It can come from a Georgian or a foreign insurer, must cover at least GEL 30,000, and must cover the whole stay including arrival and departure days. The policy must state: the parties to the contract, covered territory, subject matter, start and end dates, insured risks, sum insured (limits), and the premium with place and terms of payment. Exempt: holders of diplomatic and special visas; holders of diplomatic, official, service and special passports; accredited staff of diplomatic missions, consulates and international organisations and their accredited family members; people whose entry is covered by Georgia's international treaties; and international road freight and passenger drivers.
If you hold a visa or residence permit of another country
Under Government Resolution No. 256, foreigners who hold a valid visa and/or residence permit of any of these countries can enter Georgia without a Georgian visa and stay 90 days in any 180-day period: Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark (incl. Faroe Islands and Greenland), Estonia, Finland, France (incl. French Polynesia and New Caledonia), Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands (incl. Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles), New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom (incl. its overseas territories and Crown Dependencies), and the United States. The visa or permit must be valid on the day you cross the border. Since 16 May 2025, citizens of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, DR Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Uganda and Yemen who use a multiple-entry visa or residence permit of the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait or Oman need that document to be valid for at least one more year on the day they enter. An Israeli visa only counts as a physical stamp in the passport; electronic Israeli visas are not accepted at the Georgian border. (The MFA's own page also lists North Macedonia, which is not in the Resolution No. 256 text published by the MFA; treat that entry as unconfirmed.)
Applying at an embassy
If you need a visa but the e-Visa is not open to you (or you want a long-term visa), book an appointment through the MFA E-Application System (geoconsul.gov.ge/en/register/visit), then hand in the signed application form and all documents in hard copy at a Georgian embassy or consulate. You can apply in a third country only if you hold a multiple-entry visa or residence permit there that is valid 3 months longer than the visa you want. Decision times: short-term visa 10 calendar days, long-term visa 30 calendar days, D5 immigration visa 10 calendar days. Short-term visas: single-entry up to 30 days; multiple-entry visas can be valid up to 5 years, but you can stay no more than 90 days in any 180. The MFA lists a USD 20 service fee for ordinary visas; confirm the amount with your consulate. A refusal can be appealed within 10 business days, and the appeal must be in Georgian or come with a certified Georgian translation.
